My Story

Edward Cheng is a lifelong champion of Asian Pacific American history and culture, and increased representation of APAs in the journalism, media, creative, and museum fields.

Edward held senior newsroom leadership roles at The Wall Street Journal and Financial Times, and won awards for his journalism about China from Amnesty International and the Society of Publishers in Asia.

He later fell in love with museums and worked as Director of External Affairs for the Museum of Chinese in America and Project Manager for the American Alliance of Museums' Office of the President.

He is currently Project Director at Tanglewood Property Holdings where he advises on supporting the creation of a National Museum of Asian Pacific American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., and serves as a Volunteer and Friend of the Houston Asian American Archive at Rice University.

As an oral historian for museums and most recently Research Fellow for the Center for Asian American Christianity at Princeton Theological Seminary, Edward is fascinated by the power, art, and science of the first-person interview and its potential to heal unprocessed trauma among APA communities.

He graduated with a B.A. in broadcast journalism and minor in business administration from the University of Southern California and attended the University of Cambridge, England.
