Stuart Chan

  • Gained private sector experience with Fortune 500 and global companies in industries such as semiconductors, biotech, metals, and environmental engineering, specializing in project management and construction processes.

  • Pursued advanced education, earning a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering, a Master's in Bioinformatics/Chemical Engineering, and currently enrolled in an MBA program at Rice University.

Bio

MAJOR Chan, Stuart has a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master's in bioinformatics/chemical engineering from the University of Illinois. He is currently enrolled in the Rice University MBA program.

Besides his Civilian Education, MAJOR Chan received military education and experience, including US Army Basic Combat Training, Combat Medical Specialist, Airborne, Engineer Officer Basic Course, Engineer Captain Career Course (previously known as Advance Course), and Military Decision-Making Process course before Operation Iraqi Freedom deployment.

In the private sector, MAJOR Chan has worked with Fortune 500 companies and global companies. He has worked in semiconductor, biotech, metals, and environmental industries in roles ranging from sales to marketing and projects management to construction management/processes engineering/applications sales. He has traveled both domestically and internationally for business and pleasure.

In the Military, MAJOR Chan started as a Combat Medic and became a Career Engineer Officer. From a Combat Engineer Platoon Leader, a Military Army Reserve Liaison Attaché for the Hong Kong Consulate General, and Battle Captain for the Corp of Engineers Far East District in South Korea. MAJOR Chan had a Combat Tour as a Battalion Operation Officer (Civil/Technical Engineer) in Iraq under the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), the only Combat Engineer battalion served in North Iraq.  Before MAJOR left the Army Reserve, he was a Facility Engineer with the 115th Facility Engineer Detachment. He had toured Korea, Germany, Japan, the Middle East, and other parts of the world.
